Tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries season 5 is what we call a filler episode. A filler episode are ones that just fill the time, because 22 or 24 episodes a season is a lot. Not much happened on this episode of The Vampire Diaries season 5, not until the very last five minutes. The episode mainly consisted of Stefan being cute and cool, which we’re not complaining about. However, we kind of are,  because it could have had a lot more action and story development. Nevertheless, the last few minutes made up for it.

The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Episode 4-4

The best part of this episode of The Vampire Diaries season 5 was the goodbye funeral to Bonnie. That alone made this episode a must-see TVD one. If The Vampire Diaries does anything well, it does it’s melodramatic goodbyes.

Damon takes Stefan down memory lane to help him remember his past. Stefan doesn’t really believes these things, but he kind of just goes with them.  Then Elena steps in while Damon goes to talk to Jeremy. While all this is going on, there is the Remembrance ceremony.

After talking to Matt about needing Bonnie’s help, Jeremy decides to tell Damon that Bonnie is dead. Then Damon responds in an unnatural way by hugging Jer. Soft Damon is making us uncomfortable, but we kind of love it when he’s nice to Jer.

Matt intelligently decides to film himself to see what he’s been up doing. However, the Passenger is on to him. He reveals that he’s possessing Matt’s body, and could kill him at any moment.

Caroline gets closer to moving on from Tyler by continuing to bond with Jesse. They even kiss.

While helping Stefan remember their relationship, Stefan and Elena almost kiss. However, Elena stops it and tells him about Damon and her. Then Stefan goes on a mad raging. Even attacking Jesse, but Caroline stops him.

Later, everyone learns of Bonnie’s death. Jeremy tells Matt. Damon discloses the truth to Elena. Then Caroline goes to find Stefan to tell him and deal with her grief. Stefan declares he’ll be there for her, like she has for him.

The gang finally have a funeral for Bonnie.  While Bonnie is saying goodbye to her friends, Tyler finally returns.

At the end of the episode, that professor guy they were suspicious about, kills Jesse so he can become a vampire.

Did anyone else totally guess Tyler would show up on this episode of The Vampire Diaries? Did you cry a little at Bonnie’s funeral? Yeah…us neither. *brushes away tears*

Also is Jesse growing on you? Because he kind of grown on us. Him becoming a vampire just made him a lot more interesting and a better match for Caroline than originally thought.

Additionally, does it not break your heart that Stefan and Damon let Elena get in-between their brotherness (we know it’s not a real word)? Some of the best Vampire Diaries scenes are Stefan and Damon being brothers. We loved them bonding again at the beginning of the episode. Therefore, it sucks they can’t let Elena go for the sake of their bond.
